Why Patients Choose Us for Implants

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small titanium post is placed in the jawbone, where it bonds with the bone over a few months. We then attach a custom crown that looks, feels and works like a natural tooth. Implants can replace one tooth, several teeth, or support a full set of teeth.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth can get implants. What matters most is having healthy gums and enough jawbone to hold the implant. If bone has shrunk after a tooth was lost, a bone graft can often rebuild it first. We'll check all of this with a 3D CBCT scan at your consultation.

What to Expect, Step by Step

  1. Consultation and 3D scan. We take a 3D CBCT image and a digital scan of your teeth (no goopy impressions) and talk through your options and cost.
  2. Implant placement. Using the 3D plan, we place the implant precisely. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable this is, and nitrous oxide is available if you're nervous.
  3. Healing. Over the next few months, the implant bonds with your jawbone.
  4. Your new tooth. We design and attach a custom crown matched to your other teeth.

Because everything happens in our Tumwater office, from the scan to the final crown, you won't be sent to another office for any step.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Tumwater?

A single implant with its crown typically costs $3,000 to $5,000, depending on whether you need a bone graft or other preparation. Some dental insurance plans cover part of the cost. We'll give you an exact price before any work begins.

Implants vs. Dentures vs. Bridges

Dentures cost less up front but can slip, need adhesive and don't stop bone loss. A bridge replaces a tooth by attaching to the teeth next to it, which means reshaping those teeth. An implant stands on its own and helps preserve the jawbone. Read our full comparison: Dental Implants vs. Dentures.

Dental Implant FAQ

How long do dental implants last?

With good home care and regular checkups, implants can last for decades. The crown on top may need replacing after many years of wear.

Does getting an implant hurt?

The area is fully numbed, and most patients describe it as easier than they expected. Mild soreness for a few days afterward is normal.

How long does the whole process take?

Usually a few months from placement to final crown, mostly to allow healing. It can take longer if a bone graft is needed first.

Do you do implants in-house?

Yes. We plan, place and restore implants in our Tumwater office, with 17+ years of implant experience.
